ABOUT
About WebCraft
One interface element at a time: rendered live on the page, with its source and the thing that will break it. Launched 17 August 2026.
What gets published
Every element here has two notes attached to it. Caveat is where the snippet bites — the ancestor that silently switches sticky off, the padding that leaks a clipped line, the selector list that one unknown pseudo-element invalidates entirely. Fallback is what happens in an engine that does not support it, because that is the half most write-ups leave out.
The rule behind the whole site is short: an element with no real caveat does not get published. A caveat cannot be invented — it comes from having stood on the thing. That is what stops this becoming another gallery of a hundred buttons, and it is why some days have three elements and some have none.
How the demos work
- Rendered, never screenshotted. Every demo is real markup and real CSS running in your browser, on the same page. Resize them, tab through them, open the inspector on them.
- The snippet is the demo. The code shown is the code running, not a tidied version of it. Where a demo needs JavaScript it says so, and most do not.
- Failure states get shown too. Some cards demonstrate the bug next to the fix, because a trap you can see beats a trap described.
Independence
As of the date on this page WebCraft carries no advertising, no affiliate links, no sponsored elements and no paid placements. Nothing here is written to sell anything. If that changes, this section changes with it, in advance.
A full account of this domain
web-craft.net has had two occupants before this one, and anyone weighing the site up deserves the record rather than a discovery halfway through.
2003 to 2016 — Web Craft, Japan. A Japanese web production and PC support business ran here for over a decade, with sections for reservations, listings and site templates. Unrelated to us.
2021 to 2026 — WebCraft, a freelance practice. An Australian freelance web designer traded under the name WebCraft on this domain, offering website design, multilingual sites and SEO, built on Wix and Editor X. The last archived snapshot is from March 2026.
Since 17 August 2026 — this site. The registration lapsed and the name was released. We registered it new from the registry on 17 August 2026, which is the creation date on the current record. Everything served here since is ours: hand-written static HTML with no content management system, no user-generated pages and no automated publishing. Every URL from either previous occupant returns 404, and every visitor and crawler receives identical markup.
Corrections
If a caveat here is wrong, out of date, or missing the case that actually bit you, write to hello@web-craft.net. Corrections are made on the page with its date updated, and a caveat that turns out to be wrong is worth more to us than one nobody reports.
